About IOM

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) was established in 1951. Today - this is the only specialized inter-governmental humanitarian organization for migration, which includes 155 countries and has more than 480 offices around the world. The main functions and activities of the IOM are:

  • Extensive help for migrants in difficult situations. IOM supports voluntary return to the country of origin, carries out various reintegration programs, provides multidisciplinary help to victims of human trafficking, initiates preventive informational campaigns, carries out integration programs and similar.
  • Help for governments on topic of international migration. It is done by developing policies of migration, implementing the control of migration process in practice, organizing trainings for specialists in areas of migration and reintegration.
  • Various humanitarian work in areas of conflict, war or natural disaster.
