About program

For more than fifteen years, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) office in Vilnius provides AVR help to the citizens of third world countries (non-EU and non-EEC citizens), who find themselves in a difficult situation in Lithuania.

Assisted voluntary return - is a help for unauthorized migrants in Lithuania to return to their homeland safely and with dignity. Aid is granted to third-world countries nationals who are prepared to return voluntarily, but find it hard (financially) to travel back on their own. IOM Office offers AVR for the same person once.

In the European Union law the principle of voluntary return is a priority before the forced removal.
